Electrolysis and laser hair removal

If you are frustrated by tweezing, waxing, shaving, depilatories or other short-term, ineffective—and sometimes harmful—methods of hair removal, consult us. We offer electrolysis or laser hair removal (810 n. diode with active cooling and cold air for comfort) or a combination of both. Careful consultation precedes determining which method is best for you.

Almost all areas can be treated for hair removal. Women seek treatment for chin and upper lip hair, eyebrows, sideburns and other facial hair, as well as the bikini-line, underarms, legs and arms. Men want treatment on the back, chest and between eyebrows and ears.

"Carl did 'Radiancy' on my arms and what a difference. I've had two treatments and love to show off my arms."

ADVANTAGES

  • It's the only permanent method approved by the FDA and has the longest history of success.
  • It's extremely safe when practiced by an experienced technician.
  • Minimum post-treatment discomfort can be expected (temporary, slight reddening of the skin may occur). We follow up with post-treatment care.
  • It works with any skin type or hair color on any part of the body (as compared to most laser treatments, which are not effective on darker skin types or on blond, gray, white or red hair).

DISADVANTAGES

  • Permanent hair removal usually requires numerous treatments, depending on the area being treated.
  • Each treatment can be time-consuming, particularly if there is a large area of hair growth.

  • Hair must be 1/8 of inch long (usually one or two days growth or more) to be treated.

  • Some people experience a mild tingling sensation; others may feel more discomfort (alleviated by a topical anesthetic).

Electrolysis, the only treatment for permanent hair removal approved by the FDA, has been used effectively for more than 100 years. An ultra fine, thread-like needle is inserted into the root of the hair. Electric current is directed at the follicle so that the hair will grow back weaker and less coarse. After subsequent treatments, it does not grow back at all.

There are three kinds of electrolysis: Short wave (a quick flash of heat from an electric current discourages regrowth by drying up water around the follicle), galvanic or direct current (current reacts with salt and water in the tissue and forms sodium hydroxide which dissolves the hair root) and ultrablend, a combination of both methods—simultaneously drying out and dissolving the hair root. We prefer the ultrablend method because it is two to 10 times faster. After many years of experience, ultrablend proves to be the most successful method for eliminating each hair at the root.
