Professional Electrolysis Hair Removal
Electrolysis is currently the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal.
H. Carlton Neuben is one of only nine fully Licensed and Registered Laser Electrologists in Massachusetts. Electrolysis uses a small amount of electricity induced into the hair follicle by a fine probe. The electricity has a reaction to the salt water in your living tissue forming sodium hydroxide which decomposes the root of the hair effecting permanent hair removal. In the 1900s short wave electrolysis for permanent hair removal was invented. This is a flash of heat that electro coagulates the root of the hair.

Today, many modern electrologists use a combination of these two modalities: Direct current (galvanism) and short wave (heat / thermolosis) are blended together to kill the hair 2 ways simultaneously. This method is called the blend, and I use both in my practice. I feel the blend method works up to 10 times better on torturous distorted coarse hairs.

ADVANTAGES
OF ELECTROLYSIS:

  • Hair removal by electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal method approved by the FDA and has the longest history of success.
  • Electrolysis is extremely safe method of permanent hair removal when practiced by an experienced practicioner.
  • Minimum post-treatment discomfort can be expected (temporary, slight reddening of the skin may occur). We follow up with post-treatment care.
  • Electrolysis treatments works with any skin type or hair color on any part of the body (as compared to most laser hair removal treatments, which are not effective on blond, gray, white or red hair).

DISADVANTAGES
OF ELECTROLYSIS:

  • Permanent hair removal usually requires numerous electrolysis treatments, depending on the area being treated.
  • Each treatment can be time-consuming, particularly if there is a large area of hair growth.
  • Working women should be aware excessive hair must be 1/8 of inch long (usually one or two days growth or more) to be treated with electrolysis. Weekend and evening appointments available.
  • Some people experience a mild tingling sensation; others may feel more discomfort during electrolysis treatments (alleviated by a topical anesthetic).
